When I was in Virginia visiting my fam for spring break, my sister and I ran into Madewell to look and try on some goodies. I primarily tried on bottoms as I wanted to look at easy transitional pieces, as we move from the winter to spring (which is hopefully coming soon because I need it Y’all). I was pretty impressed with their spring items. So here are some of the beauties I tried on:
flare jeans/ size 26
white wrap top/ size small
These cropped flare jeans got my heart going. Cropped flares are a trend for this season, and I can see why. Super cute and not your average plain skinny jeans. They have two small pockets in the front that almost give it a utility vibe. They also are fair trade certified jeans, so you can feel good helping the Earth while wearing these bad boys!
I also want to discuss this white crop which you’ll notice in the rest of the try on session. This crop is super versatile, and a simple staple piece. I didn’t find it to be sheer and it is super secure because it is sewn together, unlike some wrap shirts. It comes in 5 other colors, so if white isn’t your thing, they have other neutral shades.
blush flares / size 26
I tried on these pair of crop flares, and I was not disappointed. This blush shade made me wish it was spring even more. These were more affordable than the last pair. They also are primarily made out of cotton, not a denim material. Similar to the last one, the high waist is perfect for any cropped shirts and kept me feeling super secure. Only four of the other colors are available currently, and I can see why these sell fast.
Tulip Jeans / size 26
These are not your average skinny jeans. They have a tulip cut at the bottom, meaning when both of your legs are together they make an upside down triangle shape. I loved the fit of these jeans. However, the tulip cut was not for me. If you aren’t sure how you feel about the cut, I would try them on.
striped midi skirt / size 4
I had high hopes for this midi skirt, and this was the only item that fell flat. I loved how high waisted it was and the fact it had pockets (BONUS!) but, I felt engulfed. It isn’t as evident in this picture, but I just felt it was too wide. When talking to my sister who is taller than me, she tried it on and came to the same conclusion. So I figured it wasn’t my height that had to do with it, and I had to nix this item.
striped pants / size 26
Last, but certainly not least, these striped flare crops. These were my favorite of all the bottoms I tried on. They were the most flexible of the bunch, and they are a slightly different blend then the blush crops I tried on. I thought these looked nautical in the best way possible. Even looking at the pictures now, I’m still in love. Just like the other pairs they are super high waisted and fit tight in all the right places.
I would head over to Madewell and check out some of their spring items! They were super cute and practical for this transition time. Let me know if you want me to try on anything else in the comments below! Xx.
